Rulebook
Rulebook
The Legacies Rulebook details how the game is played. It contains all of the information necessary to make a character as well as the rules that govern what the character can do in the game world. It also describes how players go about performing the actions of their character. New editions of the rulebook are published every Winter, usually around January, and every Summer, usually between June and July. The current version is Spring 2017

New players are expected to read the Legacies Rulebook before their first game, as it will give a great deal of context to the experience. That said the Rulebook contains a fair amount of content and new players are not expected to understand all of it prior to playing; the experience of the first couple of games will go a long way to helping with that understanding. Players with questions about the rules are encouraged to ask them on the Rules forum. Players also shouldn't hesitate to ask questions at Event; general questions such as "what does this ability do" can be answered by any seasoned player and generally they will be happy to help. Questions about ambigious or unprovided information in the rulebook should be directed specifically to a Rules Referee at event both because it informs the Rules Referees about what might be missing from the Rulebook and also because they have the authority to make judgement calls about content outside of the Rulebook.

Players
Players' Guide
The Legacies Players' Guide is intended to familiarize players with LARPs in general and Legacies specifically. It differs from the Rulebook in that it doesn't describe how to play Legacies, but rather what Legacies is like for the players and what the game setting is like for the characters that players assume. At the moment the Players' Guide is in a transitional form. The old Players' Guide was inadequate for the task it was set to and the final version of its replacement is not yet done. When finished the Players' Guide will be a Wiki like set of pages on this website to facilitate the generation, organization, and discovery of information on the game setting. Until that is finished there is an interim version of the Players' Guide that was the original replacement for the old book. It is far from complete, but even in its partial form it contains useful information.

Players wishing information missing from the interim Players' Guide may ask for it on the Players' Guide forum. Alternitively the World/Character Referee can shed more light on the game setting and assist players in crafting characters that fit into that setting.

New Player Orientation
New Players' Orientation
The Legacies New Players' Orientation is a quick crash course to familiarize new players with Legacies. It isn't a substitute for the Rulebook or Player's Guide, though some of the content does overlap with the first four chapters of the Player's Guide. If this is the first time a player has been exposed to a LARP or even the first time they have been exposed to Legacies specifically the amoung of information can be fairly daunting. The New Players' Orientation is designed to help new players approach this new experience, with information ranging from how to submit a character for play at the game to what a player should bring to each game. It also introduces the various resources on the website meant to help players out. Even after reading the New Players' Orientation new players are encouraged to ask any questions that come to their mind. All of the seasoned players were new once themselves, and strive to help make the first experience a positive one.
