Use of the online forums is a privilege offered by Legacies and as such there are a few guidelines that players must abide by. Failure to abide by these rules of forum etiquette may result in the deletion of posts, suspension of posting privileges, or the issuance of ref warnings.

Anonymous posts are not allowed and will be deleted. Posts under the "Guest" account must contain the poster's real first and last name. All registered accounts must have the "Real Name" field in the profile filled in.

The forums are a place for polite discussion, debate, and exchange of information. Personal attacks, defamation, provocation, flaming, etc, will not be tolerated.

Legacies is a game with a mature playership. A few "adult" words are not unheard of, however an effort should be made to keep these to a minimum. "Flavor text" is fine, but giving a sailor, or Dennis Leary, a run for their money is not

Clear Dialog
The forum is a place for mature discourse between players. Legacies is not full of grammer or spelling nazis, however a reasonable attempt to communicate in a clear and legible fashion is appreciated. As Penny-Arcade is fond of saying, the period is your friend at the end. Moreover the capital letter is your friend at the beginning. The forum is not a realtime form of communication; users have time to proof read posts and further, may edit them when typos are noticed. Use of 1337, or other juvenile forum dialects is strictly prohibited.

Posting Links/Images
Any links that are not work safe must be marked as such in an ABUNDANTLY clear fashion. Images that are not work safe should NEVER be posted on the forum. Links to third party commercial ventures that are not in some way related to LARPing will be deleted. Legacies does not care if it really is a very good deal on prescription drugs, or if the site guarentees the lowest morgage rates possible.

Avatars and Signitures
User avatars have a maxiumum size of 150 x 150 pixels. Avatars larger than that will automatically be resized by the forum. Signatures should be no more than 3 lines of text and should not contain pictures or banners.

Acceptable interaction on the In Game boards
Only active (characters currently entered into the database, played at least once and not archived), live (characters that did not end event as a spirit) characters may post in the In Game forums. Combat and Skill use are not allowed, conversations only. Players may describe what a character is doing, so long as it is an accomplishment they could feasibly do while actually playing their character, but NOT what their character is thinking. Players should avoid posting internal monologue or motive. In essance, posts should contain only content that other characters would be capable of observing, whether it be dialog or description of actions. Players should assume that anything said or done in the In Game forums was potentially observed by any other character in game.

close dialog Character Management

All requests to create a new character or make changes to existing characters is handled by emailing Logistics. When creating a new character or making significant changes to an existing character players should use the Character card maker. For more minor changes players may just describe the change that they wish to make, for example "I wish to spend 200 favor to buy Skill points, and use those skill points to buy 3 purchases of the Skill Reserve". The email should contain the player's name, and if it is an update to an existing character, the character name as it appears on the character card - Logistics may not be aware of which character a nick name goes to.

Players should also email Logistics with Character Production (Items the character is making with Skills such as Smith, Alchemist, or Spell Wright) for the upcoming month so that Logistics is able to make the Item Tags in advance. For example "I wish to use my 50 Smith production to make a standard crafted 1 handed weapon".

Production and Character Updates MUST be submitted no later than the Friday prior to the event in order to provide Logistics sufficient time to complete the request prior to event, unless Logistics has specifically announced a different policy for a specific event (for example, if events are only 2 weeks apart Logistics often allows submissions into the week of event).
